Half Wrap Front Porch

This was a rough one! We got called in to update a front porch…. After some poking around, we found that the porch was not safe enough and had to be completely replaced. The dry laid piers were crumbling, the support posts rotted and the framing for the existing deck was nowhere near to code. So we got busy. We stabilized the roof. Removed everything including the footings and dug new 36” deep footing holes. We poured new footings, built block walls in between the footings and installed new roof supports. We framed a new deck and installed new Wolf composite deck boards. Then we added beautiful cultured stone veneers below and added a custom pressure treated railing. The house had bilco doors and an egress directly below the old deck - so we made custom gas strut assisted doors that looked like part of the deck floor. We threw a coat of yellow paint on the railing and called it a day. In the end it looked great and really went well with the historic home it was a part of.
